Text clean, light even toning. Minimal shelf handling wear. The dust jacket with the price has age-toned and has a stain in the upper front corner. A year-long exploration of the life cycle of a much-loved and much-threatened wild creature, the Alaskan fur seal in the great Pribilof Islands.
In the Preface, Scheffer explains that his goal is to tell about the life of a seal over an "ordinary" year, while relaying "the central message that humans are richer for sharing a world with seals.
