Gilt-ruled half red morocco and marbled paper, gilt-stamped lettering and ornament in spine compartments (5 raised bands), all edges marbled; 4to; pp. viii, 520, illustrated with 21 chromolithographs and 350 woodcut illustrations after Watteau, Vanloo, Rigaud, Boucher, Lancret, J. Vernet, Chardin, Jeaurat, Bouchardon, Saunt-Aubin, Eisen, Gravelot, Moreau, Cochin, Wille, Debucourt, and others. Some light scuffing along joints and edges of boards; text block slightly rolled, with upper board extending about 1/4-inch beyond lower. Internally nice and clean -- chromolithographs are lovely, bright colors remain true. An excellent copy.
