Hardcover Very Good+ to Near Fine in Good DJ: The Book shows a hint of shelving wear to the lower front corner tip; a small area of dust-dulling to the top edge of the rear panel and to the head of the backstrip; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome,copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing very mild wear and minor, unobtrusive imperfections. Not at all far from 'As New'. The DJ shows fairly heavy wear; to the extremities with small loss to chipping and rubbing; a couple of short closed tears and a resultant crease at the top of the rear panel; considerable rubbing and scuffing to same; light sunning to the backstrip (the black titles and design thereon remain unaffected: bold and clearly legible); the pictoral front panel is in very good shape; unclipped. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 4to. (12.25 x 9.15 x 0.65 inches). 151 pages. Profusely illustrated with duotone photographs. Text by W. Jos de Gruyter. Language: English, French, German. Weight: 33.5 ounces. Yellow cloth over boards with green titles at the front panel with 4 impressed lines and a chalice symbol. Green titles at the backstrip and chalice symbol. Hardback with DJ. Emmy (Eugenie) Andriesse (1914 – 1953) was a Dutch photographer best known for her work with the Underground Camera group (De Ondergedoken Camera) during World War II. Andriesse's last commission was for this book 'The World of Van Gogh', which was published posthumously in 1953 - and was not yet fully completed when she became ill and after a long battle with cancer, died at the age of 39.
