About This Item

London: Routledge & Kegan Paul, 1957. 3 vols. Blue cloth boards, titles in gold on spine. Straight spines, square corners, tight bindings. Faint offsetting from front and rear flyleaf on pasted down endpapers, but text block remains clean and umarked. Dust jackets show some shelfwear to spine ends and edges, with slightly toned spines and smudges from handling on the front panel of Volume 1. Small, closed tear at top edge of spine to Volume 1. Jackets are price clipped. Schopenhauer's treatise proposes the idea that man has an unquenchable will to live, and that our most profound understanding of the world comes to us via art, while lasting good is only possible by way of ascetic renunciation. . Tenth Impression. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo.
