I, IV.Including poetry, literary criticism, essays, and celebrated prose work by Walter Savage Landor 'Imaginary Conversations', written in the tradition of dialogues with the dead, genre begun in Classical times. Concerned with philosophical, political, and moral themes.Walter Savage Landor was an English writer, poet, and activist. He befriended and influenced the next generation of literary reformers such as Charles Dickens and Robert Browning. In the original publisher's uniform full cloth bindings. Externally with bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities, boards only lightly marked, occasional minor cockling to back strip due to possible damp. Hinges reinforced. Frontispiece, uniform title page, and leaf to follow xii vol. I loose but present. Minor tape mark to outer margin p. 1 vol I. Minor staining mark to frontispiece vol I. Previous ownership ink inscription to title pages dated 1879. Staining mark to rear endpapers vol VI, tape repair and chipping to inner gutter rear vol VI. Hinges vol. VII slightly strained. Minor tape repair to half title vol. VII. Light staining marking to rear vol. VIII. Internally, binding generally firm. Pages generally very clean throughout. Good
