The collected works of James Hogg, known as the 'Ettrick Shepherd'. Scottish poet and novelist, he is best known for his novel The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner. This work is of the centenary edition complete in two large paper volumes, revised by the Rev. Thomas Thomson. Containing 'Tales and Sketches' to vol. I, and 'Poems and Life' to vol. II. Illustrated with frontispiece and additional engraved title page, as well as forty-two full page plates of engravings. Collated, complete. Rebound in uniform half calf binding with cloth covered boards, marbled edges. Externally smart with minor shelf wear, lightly rubbed and chipped to spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Front free endpapers creased. Light spotting affecting first and last few leaves as well as leaves of plates in particular, otherwise pages generally bright and clean. Very Good
