Smith, Edward Wanton (photography). xv, 196pp w appendix and index of vessels. Illustrated w bw photographs including frontis and half-title. Illustrated endpapers. Red-brown cloth w gold lettering to spine. No wear to covers or spine. Binding square and sound. Photo illustrated DJ is clean, however previous owner has neatly trimmed top, bottom and fore edges w masking tape (3/8") to guard against edgewear and reinforced backside of the spine and fore edges the same (not visible). Octavo: 230 x 206mm. This volume is a compilation of historical bw photographs of fishing and coasting schooners taken by Edward Wanton Smith (1875-1940), and includes the following articles: The Gloucester Fishing Schooners (Chapelle); The Mackerel Fishery (Goode); New England Coasting Schooner (Morgan) and, About the Big Coasters (Rowland).
