Small stain to hinge of front board, some damp staining to lower area of rear. Illustrated dust jacket; crown shows some small chips, 5cm area of loss to foot and lower edge of front panel. Several similar small losses to front panel at spine hinge, lower corners slightly chipped on both panels. Upper edge green. Ornamental endpapers. Illustrated colour frontis; 18 colour plates from drawings, B/W vignettes. Some damp staining to edges of selected pages, not intrusive. A beautiful copy; very ornamental. very good Magnificently illustrated reprint of Hawthorne's classic collection of tales for children. Walter Crane remains one of the most noted Victorian illustrators; his highly refined style, drawn from Japanese woodcuts is truly timeless. Here in extremely rare orginal dust jacket. A treasure. 1893
