Saint Louis, MO: Royal Publishing Co. [1891], 1891. Later edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. Small 4to. [4], 5-592, [2] pp. Quarter brown morocco over marbled paper boards with floral gilt decorations, a gilt border, and gilt lettering on the spine; top edge gilt. Blue marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Bound by Bonneau, with the binder's stamp on the verso of the free front endpaper. Illustrated with several full-page black and white portraits (e.g. Sitting Bull, General Sherman, etc.), and with illustrations of scenes from Custer's life. Completing the title page: "By a corps of competent authors and artists. Being a complete history of Indian life, warfare and adventure in America. Making specially prominent the Late Indian War, with full description of the Messiah Craze, Ghost Dance, Life of Sitting Bull ... comprising terrible battles, wonderful escapes, thrilling tales of heroism, daring exploits, wonderful fortitude etc., etc. Adams 1015. A reissue of Custer's autobiography, My Life on the Plains, with additional chapters and new material added. Light wear to a few leaves' corners, overall a bright and sharp copy.
