About This Item

London: Collins, 1946. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good. 8" by 5.5". Not Stated. A smart first edition of this account of the author's second expedition across the River Chindwin, with maps. First edition. Illustrated with frontispiece and four maps. Collated complete. The author's own account of leading a large miscellaneous force across the River Chindwin in a large-scale operation. As the operation begins to fail, Wingate's airplane crashes into the mountainside, and the teams are withdrawn to the West of the Chindwin. Written by Brigadier Bernard Edward Fergusson, a British Army officer and military historian. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear only. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is also smart with light shelf wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Light loss to the head of the spine with sympathetic repairs made with tape to the internal side. Sunning to the spine and the odd mark to the rear panel. A small closed tear to the front panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot or handling mark. Near Fine
