About This Item

London, Duckworth, 1929. . First edition, first impression, inscribed by the author to Sacheverell and Georgia Sitwell; 8vo, (19.5 x 14 cm); half-title, scattered light foxing; publisher's decorated boards, gilt lettering to spine, unclipped dustjacket, dustjacket marked and torn (with loss) at head and tail of spine, otherwise a very good copy; [viii], 288pp.
Inscribed in pencil by the author to his younger brother and sister-in-law to front free endpaper, 'For dearest Sachie + Georgia, / or Georgia + Sachie / from Osbert Sitwell'.

This experimental novel from the author of Before the Bombardment and Left Hand, Right Hand presents an account of the life and death of Tristam Orlander - an author whose genius never came to flower.
