The story of James Brooke, and his descendants, who ruled the territory of Sarawak, in a northern corner of Borneo, for some 100 years. The colour and black and white illustrations form a significant element of the book. The appendices include a family tree for the Brookes, a chronology, a section for further reading, and an index. A near fine copy in a very good dust jacket. The jacket has two relatively small defects. There is the ghost of a price sticker in the upper corner of the front cover. And, to the left of this, are several indents as if someone pushed down with a pencil eraser.
