A lovely signed first edition copy of this popular Forsyte novel by John Galsworthy, inscribed lovingly by the author, in the original illustrated dust wrapper. The first edition, first impression of this work.Inscribed by the author to the recto to the front endpaper, 'For F. A. Denny, very cordially, John Galsworthy, October 30 1924'.In the original unclipped dust wrapper.The first novel in Galsworthy's second Forsyte trilogy, 'A Modern Comedy', following on from his popular 'Forsyte Saga'. In this noel Soames Forsyte reappears, a comedic novel focusing on the society of the 1920s.John Galsworthy is best known for his 'Forsyte Saga' and its sequels. In 1932 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. A little bumping to the spine . A few minor spots to the boards and fore edge. Spine is a little discoloured. Author's inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Dust wrapper is edge worn with chips to the head and tail of the spine. A little age-toning and light marks to the wraps, including some spots to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
