BINDING/CONDITION: dark rust cloth with white spine text; tiny tear to the cloth at the top spine, owner's inscription, the front facing endpaper is clipped at the upper corner, otherwise the book is Very Good -- the cloth is clean and bright, the text edges all very clean, the hinges are sound, and text all very good. The dust jacket has a felt marker 'x' on the front panel, and has tape repairs to the back side (made with document tape) otherwise Good; the jacket is price clipped.. 8vo (about 8.25 inches tall) . Index. Description: Includes four double sided black and white photo plates. A double page map of Major Antarctic Treks is printed at front and rear (this was probably printed and endpaper maps in a different edition). This is a shorter, easier-reading version of the book ''Quest for a Continent''. Covers the history of Antarctic exploration from early eighteenth-century expeditions up to the International Geophysical Year.
