About This Item

Indianapolis: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1951. Hardcover. 8vo. Brown cloth, dust jacket. 368pp. Frontispiece, illustrations, pictorial endpapers. Very good/very good. An early but not first printing, bearing the pencilled ownership signature of Adlai Stevenson's sister, Elizabeth Ives, on an inner flyleaf and a fine presentation inscription by the author "To Mrs. Ernest Ives / As an historic item of / special interest to you in / this campaign year 1952. / With best wishes, / Bess Furman / Washington, D.C. / Sept. 22, '52." Unusual copy, as Ives' brother was involved in his first presidential bid at the time.
