Los Angeles: India News, 1943. Poster. 18x25 inch inch poster reprinting a full-page advertisement from the Washington Post, March 22, 1943. Neatly fold-creased, with some toning, otherwise very good. Argues that British colonial policy in India endangers Allied victory, calls for release of imprisoned independence leaders, and quotes prominent Americans supporting Indian freedom. The editor of India News, Reginald Lal Singh, was a member of the Indian National Congress. Born in British Guiana, his international experience had led him to strive for racial equality and for the independence of colonized peoples. Singh later has a minor Hollywood career; he is remembered in this capacity for playing Captain Chandra in the Star Trek episode "Court Martial.
