About This Item

(San Francisco): Post-Contemporary Productions and Last Gasp, 1982. First Edition. Paperback. Very Good. Oblong 4to. Pp. 64. Laden with black and white photos of Fitzgerald's take on the underground punk scene, mostly San Francisco. Bound in photo illustrated stiff paper wraps, Front cover with a few scratches, else Fine. Inscribed by Fitzgerald on the dedication page. Inscription reads, To -- + -- the F stopped here Glover/Hayes 1982 F. In contrast with the 1970s high-living realm of rockstar life, Fitzgerald used insane-asylums and industrial wastelands as settings for his photoshoots. Those settings and his habit of shooting at odd angles created a disturbing visual language somewhere between Brassai and Weegee. Signed copies of the first book featuring Fitzgerald, among others, X-Capees A San Francisco Punk Photo Documentary (1981), turn up regularly. For reasons unknown, signed copies of this photo essay are scarce.
