Quarter leather over marbled boards; gilt lettering on spine. Boards have heavy wear and chipping, spine is cracked, 1 ½" tall piece of tape at head of spine; front endpaper missing, title page has moderate chipping; moderate toning and soiling throughout. No publication date; this volume seems to have been reprinted until 1816. American periodical with a focus on political matters, domestic and foreign affairs. This volume includes the first issues (issues 1-26) of this weekly news magazine, which became one of the most widely circulated magazines of the day. The publication's editor, Hezekiah Niles (1777-1839), was an incredibly influential journalist. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 480 pp .
