Hardcover first edition in original dust jacket, SIGNED by the author (ASSOCIATION COPY). Clean marbled paper-covered boards with burgundy cloth spine, clean unchipped paper title label on spine. Small spots of wear to three corner tips. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound, pages and edges are clean. Inscribed and signed by the author on front free endpaper: "To Kenneth Burke, with warm greetings of his friend - Paul Rosenford Oct. 24, '28." (Kenneth Burke was a a famous literary critic, theorist and philosopher). 309 pages. Illustrated dust jacket has clean panels, fading/water stain to background of spine only; shallow chipping at top and bottom spine edges; several short closed edge tears; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover..
