Illustrated-Frontispiece: 'Richard Coeur De Lion, King of England' and three more monotone plates. Also includes: "Chronicles of the Cannongate-The Two Drovers"; "My Aunt Margaret's Mirrors"; "The Tapestried Chamber"; and Death of the Laird's Jock"'. Includes Introduction, Notes, Glossary, and Index. Note references are on the foot of each page where they occur. The book is bound in olive-green buckram binding, front quite clean, black spot on back.. Gilt titles to spine and front, edges rubbed, scuffing to corners and spine ends. Sewn binding solid and tight with endband to spine head. Inner hinge partially cracked between endpapers. Endpapers clean and unmarked. Top edge gilt. Fore edge and lower edge very rough cut, some unopened pages. Pages quite clean, no marks of any kind found, no foxing, lightly toned. The Waverly Novels are a long series of novels by Sir Walter Scott, the Magnum Opus 48 volume set being published between 1829-1833, with all subsequent sets based on that set until the standard modern edition, a thirty-volume set, was published. The early novels dealt with phases of Scottish history characterizing ordinary people, often using regional dialect; later novels were historical novels, published between 1814-1832. The novel in this volume, "The Talisman" was first published in 1825, set during 11911 in Syria. 490 pages. 8vo. 1902, P. F. Collier & Son.
