Sidgwick & Jackson, London, 1969. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Fair. Maroon coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the spine. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing sharks and futuristic submarines, with black-and-white colour title to the front panel and yellow and white coloured titles to the backstrip. A novel set in the future where the human population has outstripped its food source and is up to one man to try and solve this crisis. Bumping to the bottom book edge and there is bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine. Spine has also been slightly faded, commensurate with loss of dustwrapper. Marks to the book panels and there is browning and foxing to the paper edges. Previous owner's name on the front endpaper. Some foxing and handling marks to the internal pages as well. The corners of the dustwrapper are chipped and there are tears running along the fold over creases. There is chipping, with loss, to the head into the heel of the spine. The dustwrapper is rubbed and faded and there are some creases associated with small tears on the bottom front panel. This is the first UK edition.
