Book Has Very Slight Bumping At Ends Of Spine, Near Fine With Almost No Wear, No Browning To Covers, Slight Foxing In Gutters Of Covers. Dust Jacket Is Clean, Some Browning To Edges And Spine, Light Edge Wear But With A One Inch Chip At Bottom Of Spine With Loss Of Lower Half Of Letters Of Publisher's Name, A One Quarter Inch Chip Across Top Of Spine, A Connected Triangular 1 1/4" X 3/4" Chip At Upper Right Corner Of Rear Panel, And A Few Small To Tiny Chips On Top And Bottom Edges.
Synopsis
War with the Newts (Válka s mloky in the original Czech), also translated as War with the Salamanders, is a 1936 satirical science fiction story by Czech author Karel Čapek. It concerns the discovery in the Pacific of a sea-dwelling race, the Newts, who are initially enslaved and exploited. They acquire human knowledge and rebel, leading to a global war for supremacy.
