FIRST EDITION WITH THE ILLUSTRATIONS BY WILLIAM SHARPE. NTRODUCTION BY GEORGE N. SHUSTER. The illustrations throughout the text are profuse and are rendered from pen and ink drawings. There are twelve original aquatints on full-page plates. This highly regarded work came out of the travail of the Second World War. Long considered a great novel, The Wall signified the barricade which the occupying German forces constructed in order to seal off the Warsaw ghetto from the rest of Warsaw and from the rest of the world.
