Amusing front cover illustration features the "dog-captain" steering the ship while two sailors gaze on in amazement. Small figures explore Arctic ice on spine. Mylar wrap removed for photos. Small tears in spine ends, some shelf wear to edges. Front hinge repaired. Dampstains to margins of first pages. Ink inscription on a front leaf. Pages 45-47 loosening with roughened edges. Plate across from p. 152, as well as pp. 153-162, loosening.
