About This Item

Garden City, NY: Nelson Doubleday, Inc, 1957. Hardcover. Used - Near Fine/Near Fine. 5.75"x8.5" 377 pages; BCE, black boards & spine w/purple letters. DJ painting by Ben Wohlberg. DJ #3396. Spine slight slant, binding tight, pages clean and bright. Not x-library, unclipped, & unmarked. Two small tiny tears to top edge of DJ in back. Wrapped in brodart mylar. The Voice of the Dolls: In the voice of the dolls we meet tall, young and pretty Sarah Stacey who, undecided about her future after her father's death, takes a temporary job as a governess to sad little Jennie Foster. Since her mother's accidental death, Jennie has been withdrawn; she plays only with her dolls, "communicating" with them in a macabre game that resembles reality in the secretive Foster household all too accurately.
Listen to Danger: Life hadn't been easy for Harriet Lacey since her husband had been killed in the same car crash that had left Flynn Palmer blinded. But recently things had been looking better. Flynn, bitter at his plight yet full of guilt over Harriet, had found her a flat in the same block as himself. And the new nannie was coping excellently with Harriet's young children, Jamie and Arabella. But on the day the children are kidnapped the flat is to become a prison for Harriet - and the telephone an instrument of torture.
