About This Item
London: The Harvill Press. Very Good+ in Very Good dust jacket. 1954. First Edition. Hardcover. SIGNED by the author on the front end paper and dated June 1956. The story of the founding of Degania Alef in Israel, an early farming commune, as told by one of its prominent founding members. Original blue cloth covers with gilt spine lettering. Has a "List of Corrigenda" inserted by the publisher after the List of Illustrations. Verso of the title page states: "First Published 1954" so am assuming this is the first edition by this publisher. This 1954 edition by the UK publisher Harvill Press is also the earliest English language edition that I have been able to document. A nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings. The dust jacket has a little wear, especially to the top edge of the rear panel, else in nice, serviceable condition. The dust jacket is now in a protective, removable mylar cover. ; B&W Photographs; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 159 pages; Signed by Author .
