Baltimore, (MD: Printed by Schaeffer & Maund, 1817. Second edition (first published Pittsburgh, 1814). 12mo. 323 pp. Prints an 1816 letter from the author concerning New Orleans flooding that did not appear in the first edition, but without Brackenridge's journal of an 1811 trip up the Missouri River that did. Howes B- 688. Sabin 7177. Clark Old South II 136: "Discusses discovery, settlement, climate, soil, rivers, resources, agriculture, towns, and Indians ... an impartial and careful writer." Not in Thompson. Several small stamps eradicated from title page and interior leaves, a very good copy in an attractive binding. Later brown three-quarter mottled calf, gilt, and cloth, marbled endpapers and edges, gilt title, ornaments, and rules between raised bands on spine. (#5928).
