Scarce history of the reign of James II by Scottish politician Sir James Mackintosh, first edition thus. Previously published in the 1834 volume History of the Revolution in England in 1688, first edition thus in this stand-alone edition, comprising the first eleven chapters of the aforementioned book, which were written by Sir James Mackintosh. The book was left unfinished and completed to the settlement of the crown by the editor.A scarce volume. With advertisement to the volume following title page.Concerned with the history of the reign of James II from his accession to the enterprise of the Prince of Orange. Large paper volume.Illustrated with engraved frontispiece. Collated, complete. Includes bibliographical references and index. James Mackintosh was a Scottish jurist as well as Whig politician and historian. Bookplate from G S Foljambe's library to front pastedown, English first-class cricketer in the 19th and early 20th century. In half calf binding over marbled boards, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally sound with shelf wear, lightly chipped to head of spine, rubbed to extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to first and last few leaves, pages otherwise generally bright and clean. Very Good
