About This Item
Paris: Javal & Bourdeaux, 1930-1931. Limited edition, in 4 softcover volumes. This is one of 40 sets only; this set is numbered "IV". 4to (29cm x 25cm), 209pp, 200pp. The two text volumes are unbound, with the contents loosely inserted in quires. The first two volumes contain 24 aquarelles by Malassis. The third and fourth volumes contain 22 colour plates by Marcel Arnac. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SET IS NOT COMPLETE - it should contain six different states of the Malassis plates, but actually only contains two complete sets (en couleurs, & en couleurs sur japon ancien). This set does contain three different states of the Arnac plates (en couleurs, en bistre, en sanguine). This set also comes with an original watercolour by Marcel Arnac (the original of plate number 6), an original pencil sketch by Arnac (for plate number 5), an original pencil sketch by Malassis, and an original copper plate of one of the Malassis illustrations. Very good condition. An extremely rare item; only 40 sets were produced in this format (and only these 40 sets included the Arnac plates). Text in French.

About Cornell Books Limited
We are a medium-sized bookshop located in a small country town in the west of England. The shop is open for business from 1030 to 1700 Monday to Saturday. The building is a fifteenth-century former public house. We are still awaiting the day when we find a book older than the shop itself!
