London: Vanity Fair, 1878. Fred Spofforth (1853 - 1926), the player also known as "The Demon Bowler", was arguably the Australian cricket teams' finest pace bowler of the 19th century. Spofforth was the first bowler to take 50 test wickets, and the first to take a test hat trick on January 2, 1879, where a bowler takes three wickets in consecutive deliveries. Published on July 13, 1878. Color chromolithograph, 10 x 14 1/2". Sml. crease near the title, otherwise very good condition.
