To which Is Annexed, a Translation of the French Sea-Terms and Phrases Collected from the Works of Mess. Du Hamel, Aubin, Savarien, &c. London: Printed for T. Cadell, 1776. New ed., corrected. 4to. [unpaged]. 12 engraved folding plates. Modern full calf, gilt-ruled spine, red and green spine labels. Small amount of faint scattered foxing, else very good with folding plates very clean and in fine condition. An updated edition of a work of "extraordinary care and scientific thoroughness" which became the standard nautical dictionary until the end of sail. The detailed engraved plates of ships and riggings are all remarkably fresh. With the bookplate of George Noble, an early 19th-century British engraver.
