About This Item
London: Macmillan and Co, 1880. Leather. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A nicely bound copy of Charles Kingsley's novel. 'Two Years Ago' was written at the peak of Kingsley's career as an author. The novel features Kingsley's famed descriptive abilities. Kingsley had a skill for vividly and truthfully describing scenery. 'Two Years Ago' is set in North Devon and Kingsley's descriptions allow the reader to immerse themselves in the world of his story. Charles Kingsley was a broad church priest of the Church of England as well as a social reformer, poet and novelist. In a half calf binding with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart with slight rubbing to the paper covered boards and extremities. Heavier rubbing to the head of spine and patches of rubbing to joints. Evidence of bookplate removal to the front pastedown and to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned, particularly to edges. Spotting to first and last few pages. Very Good
