Published in English as Finn Family Moomintroll, this particular title remains the most enduringly popular and sought-after title in the series. Printed by Jacob Simelii of Helsinki. Original pictorial boards with (just about) 1/4 cloth, pp. 163, illustrated by the author with vignettes and including the map at the title. Price in Swedish kroner at the lower cover.The boards are bright and clean, corners lightly bumped/rubbed. Binding firm and square. The block is fresh, free from owner names and scribbles etc. At page 76 there are two tiny marks/stains at the inner margin and there is a tiny spot at the rear endpaper. Otherwise very clean. An attractive copy and signed in blue ink directly to the front endpaper by Tove Jansson.

Illustrated with photos. Cardstock engraved plate of Lincoln and fold-out map are present. . Limited 1st Edition. 1901. Osborn Oldroyd (1842-1930) was one of the great collectors and early researchers on Lincoln and lived in Lincoln's Springfield home for several years in the 1880s. He accumulated thousands of items related to the president, many of which are at the Ford's Theater Lincoln Museum today. As part of this account Oldroyd describes personally retracing the route of John Wilkes Booth's flight, with a folding map of the route laid in. 82 illustrations including photographs from Oldroyd's collections, with an introduction by Thomas Maley Harris, a Union general who was on the commission to try the Lincoln conspirators and also authored books on the assassination. Born in 1838 in Dunfermline, Scotland, he moved to Edinburgh, beginning to exhibit works at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1857, and then to London. Though he worked variously as a painter, sculptor and stained glass designer, John Lawson is best remembered as an illustrator of books and periodicals. His early work relates to those by his fellow Scotsman, Joseph Noel Paton, who is likely to have been a close friend.
