About This Item
Bailliere Brothers, New York, 1865. Hardcover. Good. 8vo, hardcover, no dj. Original brown cloth showing decorative oval figure blind-stamped on boards, gilt spine lettering. Good condition. Very occasional mild interior foxing, contents otherwise clean, binding & hinges firm. Board corners moderately bumped w/ lower corner of front board just starting to rub through; thin chips across upper & lower spine cloth, 1-inch split to cloth at front edge of lower spine, not loosening front board at all. Spine very slightly sunned, somewhat dulling gilt spine lettering, though lettering remains fully & clearly legible. NOT ex-library viii, [11]-648 pp., illus., plates. Based upon the author's earlier A Practical Treatise on Military Surgery (1861), written at the beginning of the Civil War, but with such extensive changes and additions after four years of battlefield experience that it may be considered a new work.
