tbc, 1945. First edition of The Tinkers of Elstow by H. E. Bates, privately printed for Lyons & Co. in 1945 with illustrations by Randolph Schwabe. One of 300 numbered copies on handmade paper of which this is number 129, signed by the author and the artist in black ink to the limitations page. The covers with minor handling wear, a small tear and chips to the top of the spine, the foot of the spine worn and chipped, wear to the corners of front board and rear panel, the text block with minor browning. The story of a Royal Ordnance Factory at Elstow in Bedfordshire, managed for the Ministry of Supply by Lyons and Co. during the Second World War.
