With 56 full page plates Based on the journals and writings of Hester Thrale, a British diarist, author and patron of the arts. Thrale was a close friend and correspondent of Samuel Johnson. With the bookplate of Chris Viveash, noted austen scholar and author. Inscribed to the front free-endpaper by the author to Ruth Page. In a cloth binding in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart with just some wear to the tail of the spine. Bookplate of Chris Viveash to front pastedown. Inscribed by author to front free-endpaper. Tipped in illustration of Arthur Murphy to rear endpaper. Dustwrapper very smart with some handling marks and pencil markings to spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine
