Edinburgh, William Tate, 1846 1st; 1838 1st; 1838 2nd.. Three Volumes. Hardback, 7.5 x 5 ins. Quarter bound green calf leather and marbled paper boards, with maroon leather spine labels lettered in gilt, with raised banding and gilt floral decorations to spines. Green endpapers and speckled page edges. In very good conditions. Some rubbing and wear to extremities; corners bumped and rubbed, edges rubbed, rubbing to ends of spines with chip to top end of vol.1. Some fading to spines, some small surface chips to leather around edges. Bookplates to endpapers “M. & E.V. Bowater.” Title and frontis darkened in vol.1. Some mild to moderate foxing to pages and plates in all volumes. Plates in vol.1. mostly all guarded. Overall a clean and tight set. 3 vols : 254, 222 & 241pp. Illustrated with 58 B&W engraved plates (7 are fold-out) including Maps.
