Universal Book And Bible House, 1931-01-01. Hardcover. Very Good+/No DJ - as issued. Vintage Hardcover, 1931 Universal Book And Bible House Philadelphia Unpaginated. Very Good+, No DJ - as issued. Minor shelf/edge wear to dark red cloth boards with bright gilt titles and accents to the front and back cover - corners have tiny bumps. There are no spine titles. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. Clean endpapers. This is the Salesman's Dummy copy of Thomas A. Edison, Benefactor of Mankind by Francis Trevelyan Miller with black and white photos at the beginning of the book. Following are truncated versions of 20 chapters to give the prospective customer an idea of the contents. There are nine pages at the end of the book for taking orders from customers solicited door to door with spaces for name, address and price. All of them are blank. NOTE: This Dummy copy lists 31 chapters but the actual First Edition book (which I also have listed) has only 27 chapters. Very handsome depression era Salesman Dummy copy. LOC SSS-18
