Appleton and Company. Good with no dust jacket. 1856. First Edition. Hardcover. Two volume set. First edition. Vol. 1 was published in 1854 and Vol. 2 in 1856. No dust jackets. Brown cloth covers with blindstamped designs on front and back, and gilt lettering and design on spines. Corners are bumped and worn. Spines are missing strips at top and have wear and tear at bottoms. Gilt and spine of Vol. 1 are faded. Covers have some edge wear. Name of a previous owner is stamped inside both front covers. Inside back cover of Vol. 1 has some writing. Pages of Vol. 1 have some toning, and book is in good minus condition. Vol. 2 has foxing on side and bottom edges of pages, and pages in front and back of book have foxing and tanning. Rest of pages have limited spotting. Vol. 2 is in fair condition. Large 8vo, 1527 pages, 6.6 lb.; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 1527 pages .
