Racine's complete theatrical plays in one volume, in a smart full calf Norther Chrurch of England School binding. A smart copy of the complete plays of J. Racine, in the original French. With a foreword by M. Auger. Jean Racine was a French dramatist, considered one of the three greatest playwrights on the seventeenth century, along with Moliére and Corneille. His works are notable for his use of the French alexandrine (dodecasyllabic), and the elegance and purity of his writing. In a smart full calf binding from the Northern Church of England School. Illustrated with a frontispiece. In a full calf school prize binding, with five raised bands and gilt tooling to the spine, gilt to the edges, Northern Church of England School emblem embossed in gilt to the front board. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear, a touch of rubbing to the spine and extremities, minor rubbing to the joints, fading to the spine. Previous ownership inscription to the verso front free endpaper and recto blank page, dated 1940. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting scattered to the occasional leaf, particularly to the first and last few. Illustrated with a frontispiece. Very Good
