Book condition: Poor. Ex-library copy with markings to backstrip, front paste down, and title page. Edge wear. Corners rubbed. Lower edge of backstrip peeling. Both hinges shaken. Front hinge has been repaired with tape. Missing front end sheet. Title page loose but present. Missing plates, IV, VI, XIV, XXVIII, XXIX, XXXV, XXXVIII, XXIX and pages 239-240.. Priced as is. An aged and mis-handled copy of one of the most extraordinary early works in both geology and western americana. There are still a few stunning color plates present. Monograph only. No atlas.
