London: Hodder And Stoughton. No Edition Stated . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 7 1/4" X 4 1/2 . Ths Scarlet Pimpernel Series... A story by the author of The Emperor's Candlesticks and The Scarlet Pimpernel. Book was first published as, " In Mary's [Queen Mary] Reign' in 1901. Following the success of the Scarlet Pimpernel, it was re-titled thus. Dedication is dated February, 1907 at Birchington-on-Sea. 332 pp. plus ad for 'Whiteley's' the complete store. Red cloth book features gilt text on spine, random daisies blindstamped on front along with sworded, caped gentleman in tights. fon stamped ffep, pages age -toned, foxing, extremities in excellent shape - sharp corners. Unclipped DJ has pinkish/orange spine and front showing the same gentleman twirling the right end of his moustache. A faux signature at the man's feet. Rear panel has ads for Hodder and Stoughton's Shilling net Cloth Bound Books. Chipping and edge wear. Title is author's second novel. Uncommon with DJ. Bookseller's Inventory # 082317.
