About This Item

New York: Hudson Hills Press, 1995. Softbound. VG. White & color illustrated glossy wraps. 127 pp., profusely illustrated in color and bw. One volume of the four-volume set outlining the collections held by The Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati, Ohio. The museum is housed in the Baum-Taft House, built in 1820, and one of the oldest surviving wooden structures in Cincinnati. Here are illustrated narratives about Charles Phelps and Anna Sinton Taft, the creators of the collections and museum; an architectural history; and the Robert S. Duncanson murals. The annotated and illustrated catalogue also presents examples of the furniture and interior decoration, including American furniture, Toiles de Jouy, and Sheffield candlesticks. A nice overview of the place and its furnishings.
