New York: Robinson, Pratt, & Co, 1836. Hardcover. Very Good. Illustrated by more than two hundred engravings. To which are added, questions for the examination of the pupils designed for the use of schools and academies. Thirty-fifth edition." 295 p.: in-text diagrams; 19 cm. Contemporary full tree calf with five spine compartments between double gilt rules; leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title "Comstock's Philosphy." Former owner's inscription on small slip on front free endpaper: "Anna Yerkes April 25th 1839. Plymouth School." She was probably a student at Plymouth Meeting Friends School, established in Pennsylvania in 1780. Although originally a boys school, girls were admitted beginning in 1812. The inscription in pencil on the back free endpaper, "Anna Yerkes Westchester B. School," indicates that she later attended the Quaker boarding school in Westchester, Pa., Westtown School, which opened in 1799. In Very Good Condition: edges lightly rubbed; tail of spine lightly scraped; pages are clean and tight.
