[4], 5-423, [1] pp. Purple cloth with black lettering and decorations on the front board, gilt lettering and black decorations on the spine. With photo-engravings and original pen drawings by Frank Beard (most of these are full-page, a few of the drawings are within the text). With an introduction by Dr. J.L.M. Curry. Twenty-fifth thousand; revised edition (as stated on the title page). This particular edition sold by subscription only. Afro-Americana 10967. A pleasing copy of Booker T. Washington's all-important and moving memoirs. The spine and the top edge of the rear board sunned, two private owner's names on the free front endpaper (one from Madison, Wis., dated 1901).
