"The work herewith presented is based upon the author's handbook and catalogue of the collection of building and ornamental stones in the United States National Museum at Washington." 551 pages with index. 16 page catalogue of other John Wiley & Sons books for sale at conclusion. Grey cloth covers with gilt lettering on spine. Cover corners and edges are rubbed, marking and scuffing to cover faces. Spine has significant rubbing at top that causes cloth to fray, tears and fraying to spine tips (large tear on bottom), and rubbing on front joint. Front hinge broken, and first pages are chipped along edges. Ex. lib stamp and identification numbers on second page. Interior pages are browning along edges, otherwise clean. Book in Good condition.. Third Edition, Revised and Enlarged. Cloth. Good. Illus. by Photographs, Figures. Size: Approx. 6 " x 9 1/4". Geology.

New York: John Wiley & Sons, 1903. This is a very good hardcover copy in the original gray cloth binding, ruled in blind, gilt title on the spine. Covers a little grubby. Inside completely clean. Title-page has old tape on the back side near the gutter, possibly to prevent the page from loosening. This copy has been signed by Merrill on the second blank endpaper, the signature at some point partially abraded. This is the 3rd and final edition, revised and enlarged. Illustrated with photographs and drawings. 33 full page plates + 24 figures in the text. 9" high X 6" wide, vi, 551 pages + 16 pg. John Wiley catalog of publications.
