EB. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Hardcover. 8vo. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston & New York, 1909. 74 pgs. First Edition/First Printing. Housed in a custom slipcased box. DJ has light shelf-wear present to the DJ extremities (very light chipping present to the spine ends and to the edges of the DJ). Bound in cloth boards with titles present to the spine and front board. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. The story of Muir's trip to Alaska in a canoe with a little black dog. Muir, a naturalist and activist, was founder of the Sierra Club and advocate for preservation of the Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Park. Known as Father of our National Parks, his lifelong support of preservation of the wilderness and his friendship with Theodore Roosevelt led to the formation of many of our most valued preserved wilderness areas.
