About This Item

Edinburgh: John Balfour | London: W. Strahan and T. Cadel, 1774. Hard Cover. Fair binding. Quarto. xii, 800 pp. Untrimmed copy in early 19th century cloth. Generally worn and rubbed; hinges and joints are starting to split; a serviceable reference or binding copy. McCormick (1733-1799) provides later generations with documentary evidence for the study of the complicated life of Carstares--a Church of Scotland minister, political adviser to the House of Orange, exile under the Stuarts, and a defender of the kirk.
