Stamford, Connecticut: The Stamford Historical Society, 1971. 8.25" wide by 11" tall. Very Good condition but moderate finger soil to the cover. Bound in the original off-white pictorial wrappers. NO owner's name or bookplate. NO ink stamps. Internal pages are clean. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. This is a photographic history of Stamford from 1875 to about 1925, with a total of over 300 photos. Captions for the photos were written by Carl Lobozza, Historian of the Stamford Historical Society. Included are photos of Atlantic Street in 1875, early Stamford churches, clothing and hair styles of the 1880s (with names of the Stamford men and women who are pictured), early automobiles and fire trucks, the city's 250th anniversary celebration in 1892, the visits of Grover Cleveland and Teddy Roosevelt, Atlantic Street in the early 1890s, residences circa 1890, the fires of 1904, the 1905 Spelke baseball team, horse and delivery wagons, funeral coach, blacksmith shops, ice harvesting on the Mill River, Miller's Bridge, streetcars and taxicabs, Cummings Park (Halloween Park), Foundry Street, Rice School, etc..
