Description:
First Edition/First Printing; A Very Good copy. SIGNED on a special publisher's bookplate by Fisher, Frederic Delano (FDR's Uncle and President of the Stable Money Association, this book dedicated to FDR), and James Rand Jr. (Chairman of the Committee for the Nation). This copy is #725 and is inscribed to Paul H. Allen. An outstanding copy of this important work by one of the 20th Century's great economists; scarce in collectible condition, particularly with the signed bookplate. This copy is in very good condition with a square, tight binding, gold lettering over dark blue boards with only light fading, and clean pages throughout; the book does show some moderate rubbing to the ends, edges, and corners and some light creasing along the spine edges, else near fine or better. Not remaindered, not ex-library; will ship well protected in a sturdy box.

Description:
New York: Adelphi Publishers, 1934. First edition of Fisher's classic treatise. Octavo, original blue cloth. Laid in is the original publisher's slip which reads "In recognition of pioneer support of the movement for a Stable Measure of Value. Copy no. 660 of the first edition of Stable Money: A History of the Movement is inscribed to Fenton Lawson." The slip is signed by Irving Fisher. In near fine condition. An exceptional example. Irving Fisher was one of the greatest economists of the twentieth century making important contributions to utility theory and his work on the quantity theory of money inaugurated the school of economic thought known as "monetarism." Milton Friedman called Fisher "the greatest economist the United States has ever produced." Some concepts named after Fisher include the Fisher equation, the Fisher hypothesis, the international Fisher effect, and the Fisher separation theorem.
